At Gippsland Lakes Medical Imaging (GLMI), we provide high-quality digital X-ray services using state-of-the-art, low-dose technology that’s fast, safe, and highly accurate.

We perform general X-rays, OPG (dental X-rays), Cephalometry (for orthodontic assessment) from both our Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance locations. CBCT (Cone Beam CT) imaging can be performed from our Bairnsdale location. Referrals are accepted from any GP or specialist and no appointment is required for most general X-rays except for CBCT bookings.

Our X-Ray Technology

We partner with Shimadzu and Planmeca, leading providers of advanced radiology systems, to ensure every scan delivers consistent, high-resolution results. We only use digital X-ray technology, providing faster turnaround and significantly lower radiation doses.

At GLMI, we use digital X-ray systems which offer up to 70% less radiation than conventional X-ray imaging making your X-ray safer, clearer, and more efficient.

Do I Need to
Prepare or Book?

No special preparation is needed for most X-rays. However,
you may want to wear loose-fitting clothes that allow easy
access to the area being scanned, and avoid excessive
jewellery.

Appointments are not required for general X-rays, and walk-ins
are welcome. If you have special requirements, or want to
avoid waiting, feel free to call us to arrange a time.

Billing & Medicare

We bulk bill most services at Gippsland Lakes Medical
Imaging, including many X-rays, CT scans and general
ultrasound procedures.

However, some scans may not be eligible for bulk billing, depending on the type of procedure and Medicare guidelines.

We recommend contacting our team to confirm if your scan will be bulk billed or if any out-of-pocket costs apply.

Accessing Your
Results & Images

Your results are sent electronically to your referring doctor
and any other healthcare provider you nominate.

Patients can also access their imaging reports via
My Health Record or through our secure
